It should make sense to you though because it’s not compatible with human behavior in the aggregate. That you’re saying you can *manage* to not be mad suggests to me that you don’t think it’s entirely fair on some level, yet are able to overcome it. I think that says more about you personally than people in general, because we know, for example, how processing works when evaluating unfair offers:

Activity in the insula mediated the relationship between right VLPFC activity and tendency to accept unfair offers, and this finding supports the hypothesis that right VLPFC promotes more normative decision making by down-regulating activity in the anterior insula when unfair offers are considered. Thus, the ability to swallow one’s pride, overcome the insult, and take an unfair offer may involve active down-regulation of emotional responses to unfair treatment.

Also, I’d expect all of this to be highly-influenced by framing effects, so this part is interesting:

Right VLPFC has also been linked to reduced susceptibility to amygdala-mediated framing effects and thus to rational decision making (De Martino, Kumaran, Seymour, & Dolan, 2006).

In other words, this could easily be a double attenuation thing where you’re both better able to overcome perceived unfairness and are less susceptible to framing effects (the ultimatum game by its very nature is a framing effect). Again, I think it says more about you individually, because people whose brains fire less in these areas when evaluating unfair offers will be less likely to see it your way, and we have a rich body of literature demonstrating that people vary considerably in this regard.

thanks for explaining that in such detail, I do think it is unfair on some level, but not because other people are getting benefitted, but because there was even a reason or a need for me to do it in the first place

Yes, most of the PPP tweeters were the rip-off kind.

My physical therapist offices business went to shit for 6 months so I don’t feel bad about the money they got.

Was curious if anyone was going to post this from him

Did PPP function as a bribe to make enough business owners not protest too strongly about COVID restrictions?

Know several large law firms that straight up pocketed the PPP money

PPP and all the other programs were the government panicking about civil unrest. They were throwing money anywhere and everywhere. They even gave some to poor people. That’s how scared they were.

It’s almost like poor people should credibly threaten civil unrest if they want to force government to be fairer.
