Not sure if it was posted ITT but apparently Manchin recently said he will absolutely not do any filibuster reform for voting rights. Which would explain why Republicans got a lot more comfortable with not passing any bipartisan shit and only goal was to run out the clock.

If Manchin wants to vote to raise the debt ceiling, what if someone on the left refuses to vote for it unless Manchin gives in on a progressive issue he currently opposes?
McConnell wants the debt ceiling to be addressed in reconciliation because while rich people obviously donât want this bullshit interfering with their life, itâs a good issue to rule up the rubes.
We get weeks of news stories from every outlet villainizing the left for not trying to compromise.
