The Presidency of the Joes: more like INFRASTRUCTURE WEAK

This is THE KEY that the media isn’t reporting. GOP is against this all for one reason. It helps states and municipalities. The GOP hates government and wants it to die. This is their “drown it in a bathtub” glory scenario.

Lol I wasn’t advocating not doing reconciliation. Point was do a clean bill of shots and checks then when gop turns that down obv add them to reconciliation. Or if they do pass it you get those things asap instead of a month or two and now you have an extra couple hundred billion you could use in the 1.9 trillion bill.

I mean you really thought I was only advocating for just shots and checks and nothing else?

Sure but reconciliation takes a long time and we need vaccine money right now. But it’s a good point about allowing the gop the opportunity to vote on clean checks which is the most popular part of the bill

No discussion at all of the 40 GOP Senators who aren’t even pretending to support anything.

That’s 80% of GOP Senators who do not support any COVID relief. How about asking them why they want people to die instead of spending entire Sunday shows on why Biden won’t deliver GOP votes.

I don’t know which thread to put this in but my 19 year old niece just made a fb post questioning why she still sees so many people worshipping Trump even now when he is out of office and Biden is president. The comments on it were scary af. An absolute deluge of terrible people, mostly young people, saying the most vile things to her. I clicked through to some of their profiles and they are all posting like 20 insanely unhinged hard right wing propaganda posts a day.

They are mostly 18-24. We are fucking doomed.

It’s legitimately terrifying. Internet propaganda definitely infected a not insignificant percentage of the younger generation.

Counter point. I have a very large group of 26-35 year olds on my FB and 0 of them support Trump.

I still think that age range is like 70-30 democratic. I think there are probably a decent amount of 18ish year olds who support Trump just to be edgy though and will grow out of it.

Bipartisan is a dirty word to the Trump party. F em. Pass the wish list.

To be fair she lives in semi-rural Kansas and has Trumpy parents. I give her a lot of credit for speaking out. The insane chorus of Biden has ended free speech, jobs and is a pedo from all of the comments is insanely alarming to me though considering the age of the responders. It has no tethering to reality whatsoever.

I did. I want to jump in and eviscerate all the morons but I know better. Her mom of course tone policed her in the comments which is just so gross I can’t take it.

I don’t get the logic that democrats should negotiate here. Presumably you think your plan is correct. You have the votes to pass it. What is the logic behind voluntarily making your bill worse? It just confirms to voters you think your opponents criticism is valid.

Why not just do this with a burner acct?

I couldn’t quite put my finger on his vibe but this is exactly it

That’s a good idea that I hadn’t thought of.

Don’t think this is right. Republicans don’t want to let Democrats have a win. There’s no philosophy here. The intellectual side of the Republican Party is dead and rotting, and has been for some time now.

Dems: Here’s a bill that will save tons of lives and prevent the economy from collapsing.

GOP: What’s it cost?

Dems: 1 trillion dollars.

GOP: Woah there buddy. That’s way too much money. We can’t afford that!

Dems: Okay, here’s a trimmed-down version of the bill that only costs $750 billion.

GOP: I like the direction this is going, but that’s still too much.

Dems: Cutting-to-the-core bill will cost $500 billion, and that’s our final offer.

GOP: It’s still too high. Where’s your spirit of bi-partisanship? You the same folks talking about Unity??

Dems: Okay we’ve cut far deeper that we wanted but here’s a bare-bones version that only costs $375 billion.

GOP: Nah. And I’m gonna go on every talk show and tell the American people how much you hate them and refused to negotiate in good faith.

Dems: It happened again. When will we ever learn?
