Not really. The vast majority of prisons are state prisons.
And the DOJ doesn’t contract for ICE prisons.
Two of the most famous progressive upsets were in his state (AOC and Bowman). He definitely has it in mind.

Reconcilation can only be done like once a year, right? Covid relief is obviously a worthy use for it, but hopefully they jam a bunch of other stuff in there too. Seems important to maximize value if we only have a couple shots before Republicans win the house in '22.

It’s typically once a year, but my understanding is that they can get 2 cracks at it this calendar year. IIRC, it’s because the current budget is running mostly off of a continuing resolution, not a reconciliation bill, so they can technically pass one reconciliation bill now and another in the fall when we enter the new fiscal year. But, after that, you get one shot per fiscal year.

There are two things they can do by majority once a year I think. One is reconciliation, and one maybe involves the budget? There’s some second thing they can do this year by reconciliation, probably can fix taxes and stuff with it.
