The Presidency of the Joes: more like INFRASTRUCTURE WEAK

There will be 3 more reconciliation bills, though.

And the GOP is going to keep slamming its dick in the car door.

They slammed their dick into the car door repeatedly in 2008. Eight years later, they had the Presidency, House, Senate, Supreme Court, and a significant majority of state and local positions.

And they’ll just keep slamming their dicks in doors as long as liberals keep wincing.

It’s like watching a car crash irl of one of your enemies, running over to help while shouting about the accident and helping out before the paramedics appear.

I can see another bill in the fall happening. Won’t be like this one though.

What other reconciliation bills are we looking at? Raising taxes on the rich, which will be neutral, to slightly popular, to slightly negative depending. Anything else popular coming down the pipe?

Student loan forgiveness

So they’re doing that through congress instead of just having Biden do it? Bleh.

How popular is that? I feel like thats gonna piss of working class uneducated and get the resentment juices flowing.

If those economic projections posted earlier are real, and Covid basically " ends " this year we should be in great shape in 2022. Still a massive uphill battle with these voting laws coming into effect.

Depends. I can see Biden doing a 10K forgiveness and congress insisting that isnt enough and reconciling a 50K forgiveness

There was a huge economic boom after the Black Death, but I don’t think that’s a great historical parallel.

The key is throwing in student loan forgiveness (or more checks or both) into the next recon bill.

Housing becomes very affordable once half the population is dead.

Super super morbid hypothetical, but I wonder if “enough” old folks died during this pandemic to make a real measurable difference in things like eliminating care costs that were the burden of the next generation, transfer of inheritance to people who will more freely spend it, etc. Like enough to be a significant part of an economic bump.

I hear that was Cuomo’s plan all along.

Taxing the rich is incredibly popular, this is a topic where the left wing of the party has been very effective in moving public opinion.

Even a wealth tax has majority support. 74%!!! support a wealth tax on fortunes exceeding $50 million.

The framing of that poll is enraging horseshit btw - the question was “do you support a wealth tax even though people already pay income tax?” The whole point is these people DON’T pay income tax.

As I understand it, all the survivors inherited lots of goodies and there was a mass labor shortage so they got better wages.

I know its incredibly popular but in my experience dems always lose this messaging war and it becomes Dems are raising your taxes and it becomes super unpopular.

I mean if they do a tax bill, just the fact that the Rep bill has middle class taxes going back up it’ll be blamed on the dems.

We shall see.

I truly think things have changed with Trump, basically everyone other than complete deplorables seems to finally get that the GOP is full of shit and offers normal people absolutely nothing of substance.

Here’s the apparent outline of the plan, which doesn’t include a wealth tax.
