Does it suck? Yes.
Is it remotely adequate in meeting the needs of the time? No.

Obviously no way to prove this but in the alternate world it could be proved I would legitimately bet $10,000 that had the stimulus included the $15 min wage and no means testing you would have still called it a bad bill. It could have included $25 min wage, been $5 trillion, had free education for all and you (and many others) would be posting. āLol shitlib centrists didnāt include m4a. What a trash stimulusā.

This bill is clearly to the left of what would have been passed in a world where Bernie is president but Dems lose at least one Georgia Senate seat due to fear of enabling socialism being wielded like a cudgel in the run-off.

5 million people could die instead of 500k and people would still be in here screeching about how absolute dollar value compared to the previous 100 years of aid made the response good
Georgia may have been won primarily due to increased black turnout and lower Republican turnout vs November. I suppose you could make a case that $2000 checks helped with the former, if you wish, but Iād like to hear your argument on how it caused the latter. I suspect that having Bernie in the White House would have motivated some Republicans who stayed home in January to get out and vote, plus it would have motivated more money to be piled into the races, for all the good that may have done.

it might even be to the left of what would have passed in a world where Bernie is president and Dems win both Georgia run-offs because, even if Bernie starts off to the left of Biden, Manchin might drive a harder bargain to create more distance between him and Sanders. In the current world, Manchin might love for bills to be passed by being just enough to the right to simultaneously pick up a Republican and lose Sanders so that he can spin it as a moderate bill that makes both extremes unhappy.
