This congressional recess is mass murder. Democrats belong in the 7th circle of hell for they are doing to the people right now. I can’t imagine being a person that nitpicks the relative distance to the door between D and R.

While I agree for the most part at lol dems, their 50th vote is Manchin who is a half Republican senator form WV which got 70% of Trump voters.
You guys act like they have this completely unified caucus where they can do anything they want when in reality they have a bunch of senators who prevent them from doing those exact things.
I don’t know if they’d do the right things if they could. I mostly hate the democrats too but Schumer has indicated several times he realizes democracy is on the line.

They literally can’t do those things unless they convince these super moderates to do the right thing.

Stuff like immigration policy and student loan reform is something he clearly has the power to unilaterally do. He isn’t doing it (yet). Why?

I totally agree about Biden. I saw lots of posts about passing bills and nuking the filibuster and that is wrong.
Also LOL at anyone besides Manchin having a chance in WV. Cinema I have no idea, maybe she was our best shot at winning in AZ? I don’t know enough about the situation to say.
Like I said I’m on team LOL democrats, but there seems to be a lot of unguided hate about what the senate and thus dems can accomplish.
Of course Biden sucks, we knew that. That being said he’s been way better than I expected on everything but immigration and student loan etc. But that was expected.
Reconciliation is still happening during the recess, and in fact the Senate can’t move forward on that until that process is completed. They also can’t do anything more without nuking the filibuster until they have the votes.
I don’t mind the criticisms of Biden or Dems in Congress, but at least know what you’re talking about before going off the deep end.

Manchin isn’t the problem anyways. The DemE crowd is. We already saw what happened with a super majority in 2009-2010. Almost nothing. And the key players in the party are the same. If they had 54 seats they still wouldn’t nuke the filibuster imo.

This I’m not sure on. Several people including fucking Schumer have indicated they absolutely have learned from 2009-2010 and said they need to deliver big and regularly. They’ve shown that by pushing back on Manchins bullshit with means testing.
Schumer has even indicated he realizes failing in this moment can lead to the end of democracy. I legit think they realize it because its so obvious. They can only push so hard with 2+ DINOs

It seems like to me doing tons to help people and gaining a few seats has to be the path forward. I hope that is what happens I just don’t have a lot of faith in it because of their multi-decade track record.
