My aunt and uncle (early 70s, wealthy, didn’t really give a shit about politics 10 years ago) are watching Newsmax now and joined Parler. I think sadly that’s the most likely path right now. I’m hoping without Trump to constantly stoke the fires that many of them will get bored of it and slowly drift away. But they’ll be waiting for the next authoritarian to rally them together I’m sure.
A good chunk have to be checking out of politics for a little while. The Radical Socialist Joe Biden plotline is such a silly bore coming off the crack high from the Trump Train Qanon stuff they’ve been on the last four years.

Yeah my old MAGA trainer totally checked out for a while in 2012 after Obama one the second time. I did my best to check out after Trump won (I got off twitter at least).
I think it’s pretty common for the losing team to just want to take a break from the pain for a while.

Thanks, to hopefully temper your pessimism that clause also includes a requirement to have had prior consultation with an attorney to qualify, so that has me as a law bro optimistic because I doubt most of the people who waived their rights did so with any kind of meaningful access to an attorney prior to that waiver.
