A lasting lesson of this horror show is that whenever the left tries to apply their principles in good faith to conservatives, the right just uses it to further obliterate the opposition. See, e.g., all their BS lawsuits and running out the clock on subpoenas. Hillary sat there for 12 hours answering all the DERP on Benghazi, did that stop literally the entire executive branch from asserting nonsense privilege claims?

My understanding is that he didn’t even get fired for wanting the war criminal stripped of his SEAL membership. He was going to let the guy remain a SEAL, but wanted to preserve the appearance of a system of justice in the military. Instead of having a racist commander in chief handwave away charges against a racist murderer. And he made the mistake of trying to arrange that “deal” directly with the WH which allowed Esper to gotcha him for going around the chain of command.
The Republicans would have for real locked her up if she had refused to testify.

This seems like a pretty major story, but it’s fairly complex. Ropes in Barr in a limited way and the crazy pants Fox conspiracy lawyers in a big way. The overall Ukraine story is the big picture, but this gets into the detailed mechanics. It’s a pretty impressive article.
