I mean we’re not talking about Matt Gaetz here, we’re talking about people who have to win statewide elections in states the Dems can take in the presidential election. At some point they’re going to see their own internal polling telling them something.
Maybe not, I don’t know… I think it’s possible if not likely that it gets a 5-10 point bump just off of the Dems doing it. There are low info voters who will support it just because it happened. Like “Wow it must be serious if they actually impeached him!”
I guess I just think the cult of Trump is going to take a lot more to unravel than this Ukraine stuff even though in normal times this is a big deal. As I’ve said a few times the pussygrabber tape and committing campaign finance crimes to pay off a porn star he fucked while Melania was pregnant had literally zero effect on his political viability. I just don’t see Ukraine being the straw that finally breaks his back.
Also those Republicans that are in swing states face certain defeat if they stand up to Trump. That’s why they are either resigning or getting in line. They might have some chance riding Trump’s coat tails to victory. I don’t ever see a scenerio where electoral viability is going to be a reason to ditch Trump when he is polling at 90% within the party. It would be political suicide at a number much lower than that.
I agree it’s unlikely, but I think it’s possible. And I think if they view their political demise as inevitable regardless of how they vote, they may be inclined to be remembered as a moderate voice of reason in order to either run for POTUS in the future or cash those sweet CNN talking head checks.
Yeah at the very least this persistent attack on Trump should help preemptively hurt his offspring who might run for office down the road. Although if melania runs I will vote for her.
I agree. I’m just saying he has been through 10+ scandals that would have ended anyone elses political career. It’s hard to imagine this being what does it.
I think we have discovered the general public is not that bothered by it. Which is a horrible precedent which will only serve to make the total of elected officials to get even worse.
The election is less than a year away. He’s not going to be impeached in the Senate unless the polling shows it’s the viable option.
Barr’s speech should scare the shit out of everyone though. He’s basically laying the ground work where the GOP does not recognize the Democrats as a political party. Especially since there’s no way Trump accepts defeat in the 2020 election. They will 100% put political rivals in jail if they can.
I’m confused, I thought Kent and Taylor are both still in their jobs. Is Rush giving us some breaking news? Plus Taylor was literally outside the government, came in to work for Trump, and is clearly a hawk. Yes, keep firing witnesses to the criminal conspiracy who gave you wide latitude plz.
Correct, I remember Romney being shocked, absolutely shocked, that they lost. Fox News told him he was going to win (all his internal polls agreed), and they apparently never got a second opinion of what the real world was like. The sycophancy is baked in.
This is a reminder that this administration is largely an extension of the Dubya administration with more crazies and billionaires. Dubya is directly responsible for the normalization and SC elevation of Kavanaugh. He probably said to him something like, ‘look, I had a lot of problems like you when I was young. If you clean yourself up and stop looking and acting like a serial rapist frat boy you can make it to the SC. Here’s someone in my office. Date her, marry her, have a few kids, volunteer in your community, and you can have it all.’
Thanks Dubya.
You hate to see it. When the hall monitor gets to Congress, and reads off pages of paper like a DMV worker lecturing someone with actual skill.
Endless projection here. You can’t find the words to defend this via your focus groups, so you blame the Democrats. Some scandals just aren’t complex enough for you to be able to play all the ‘our audience/voters are stupid’ tricks.
Because a lot of people can’t even pronounce ‘emoluments’ much less know what it means.
Every single GOP person on that Intel Committee minus (maybe) Hurd is a die hard QAnon follower. These are not the reasonable ones, so I don’t know what you’re talking about. Conaway knows he now has a good shot at being the ranking member in 2020, and that’s why all he did was praise Yovanovitch and say her landing wasn’t so bad after all. He’s not in the mood to get bounced.
