Do I really have to hate Bill Gates now? Guy, find your way to following thought, “I don’t agree with Warren’s wealth tax or with what she has to say about billionaires, but there are issues more important than that, like climate change, which is the greatest threat to human civilization, so I can never support a candidate who is destroying the planet, obviously.”
I listened to probably two hundred episodes in a row of Rogan’s podcast from #100 forward. It’s really embarrassing what his show has become.

The thing that Gates and other billionaires don’t get is they think regular people will put themselves in their shoes and think “I can’t believe I’m paying $10 billion in taxes,” not realizing the average person would love to be in a position where they have to pay $10 billion in taxes.
Also Gates estimates he’s paid $10 billion and possibly $20 billion in taxes. Even if he paid $20 billion, his tax rate is still under 20%. He can go fuck himself.

Nitpicking. But even 20% of his total wealth doesnt equate to what we pay. Wealth vs earning etc.
My networth is probably about 200k. I’ve paid probably about 500k in tax over my lifetime.
Basically. Earning a salary is a mugs game. Owning capital is how people get rich.

Bill Gates had a good run trying to be the one Cool Uncle multibillionaire. Throwing out dimes to stop malaria just like Carnegie posthumously giving some money to libraries. But when all is said and done, Mob Deep was right all along. Fuck hip-hop, snatch pockets, rob jewels.

This is probably true for most, but you really have to get them to think about it. In fact, many perceive it just as Gates does. That is, they’re afraid what might happen to them if they get rich, even though the chances of that are virtually zero.
About 10 yrs ago or so, Washington state (which has no state income tax) held a referendum on an income tax only for people who made >500K. Gates was very vocal in his support of it and spent a ton of money on ads campaigning for it.
Now you would think that in a population if you presented a matter that would benefit >99% of the people at the expense of very few, it should pass easily. But it didn’t. It wasn’t even close to passing. And when people were asked why they were opposed, there was an awful lot of “regular people putting themselves in their shoes” going on (of course, that wasn’t the only or even main reason).
Also telling Gates to fuck himself is a little harsh. Even though he may not like the Warren plan, he has been a proponent for higher taxes on the wealthy for a long time. It’s not that far from telling Bernie to fuck himself because he doesn’t agree with the details of Warren’s health care plan.

Bill is pretty trash for suggesting he would be taxed at a 99% rate. This entire system that we slave under protects his very dubiously acquired intellectual property, defends his fake-ass monopoly rights and uber controls immigration system (read indentured servitude) highly manipulated to his companies benefit. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad he’s been right some of the time, but if he wants me to feel bad based on a claim at the absolute limits of hyperbole, how about no.
