The oil takes ITT are really bad.
Oil investments play out over 20 plus years. What happened in the last few months has almost no bearing on that.
The only exception is that the oil producing nations were (eventually) able to restrict production and maintain higher prices in the face of an unprecedented demand shock. If anything that indicates that prices will be high over the long term.
Underlying demand. Especially from transport. Is going to keep increasing. We definitely have not peaked.
Of course. We have 50 years of global oil reserves left and we need to leave at least half of that in the fucking ground or else the planet is fucked. So on that basis doing anything to encourage oil is disastrous.
We canāt pretend these people are making poor economic choices. At least in the short term if we ignore the economic impacts of climate change.
