This is the single most insane thing about politicians. How are they not all in session everyday hammering this shit out. Imagine saying on your job “sure it’s the biggest crisis we have ever faced, but I booked my days off. What can I do!”

Right… who wants voting rights?

It also isn’t like most of them are probably doing in person campaign stuff this year either like they normally would be.

Their donors keep sending checks regardless of how many days they are in session.

Exactly. It’s even worse this year than most.

I just want to mention, as one of the generally less shook posters here I think, that I am pretty fucking shook by all the postal service stuff going on, in the context of Biden having a massive advantage of postal votes. Like I don’t even live over there but I am DEFCON 2 shook and pushing DEFCON 1. Prior to that I didn’t see any feasible way in which Trump could rig the election or muddy the waters enough on it to cling on to power, now I absolutely do.

I know so frustrating. I am working today during my vacation because a client asked for something. Millions of people are depending on them for FOOD AND SHELTER and its just shrug, we tried.

Yep, and shut down some strategically located polling places under the guise of covid hot spots and it’s game over.

This is an absolutely amazing commercial.

If I took a shit in a salad and then removed half of the shit, it’s still a shit salad.

How many do we need to impeach him again?

The obvious solution to the recess bullshit is to use technology to locate legislators in their districts full time. Literally nothing they do every day can’t be done over the internet. If there’s nothing else we’ve learned from 2020 it’s that telecommuting works just fine.

That way they actually live in their district and are geographically harder to get close to for lobbyists… and at least the special interests most likely to corrupt them through social contacts will be from their own district.

They can all get together face to face a few times a year at conferences or something.

You can’t receive an envelope full of cash from a lobbyist over Zoom.

Yup. It’ll be something like, “We are happy to announce we are prioritizing shipments of medication, and if it happens to slow down other mail like you know, letters, greeting cards, ballots, and post cards, that’s just the price we have to pay.”

What was that thing you said it was going to slow down in the middle there?

“Greeting cards.”

After that.

“Post cards.”

Before that.

“Was there something else? I don’t recall.”

So basically they looked at everyone bailed out by a bail fund, found people who had priors for other stuff, found Biden campaign employees had donated to bail funds, and here we are.

Yeah that will be soooooooo good for black turnout. Like from their perspective this shit cannot work out politically.
