In Japan, riding trains is standard, as most of the country is connected by rail. They are always clean, safe, on time, and enjoyable to ride, with the exception of rush hour in Tokyo, which is a nightmare.
The bullet train is a delight to ride–lighting fast and feels like you’re gliding on air.
Once, when I missed a connector flight to San Diego from LA due to a delayed flight, I got stuck taking the Amtrak. What a gross, uncomfortable, rattly ride that was.
The lack of a sophisticated modern rail system in the U.S. is just one more example of how we are falling behind the rest of the world.

California might have some high speed trains by 2031, just 23 short years after being approved by voters. In reality it’ll probably take until 2051 because California voters love approving shit but hate actually funding it.

I was thinking about the dog thing the other day it is an absolutely massive giveaway for someone in high political office.
Not ever having had a dog is pretty weird outside of some exceptions. If Trump ever had a dog and take care of it by himself the dog would live as long as the dog could survive without food or water.

maybe they could trial balloon connecting a few bigger cities on the east/west coast at first (say NY/DC or SF/LA) but californias plan turned into a giant, and I mean giant $$$$$$ fire.
What kind of dirt do they have on Christie that keeps him around this shitshow? Are they still teasing him with a potential AG gig or something?

Maybe they just pay him a lot? He doesn’t have any other job. Not that they need the money, though, as I believe his wife works on Wall Street.
