Pei would be like maybe the 5th most well known architect here, and I would honestly be surprised if anybody in a random group of 100 Americans knew who he was.
If you want to nit it up and say that he would be relatively more well known in the US than Zaha Hadid, ok, sure. But he is still very far from well known because nobody here knows or cares about architects and architecture.
