The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Unconstitutional Slop

Gonna have to go to the Oracle on that one.

“The term is part of restaurant slang, heard among restaurant workers in the 1930s,[2] where 86 meant “we’re all out of it.” Walter Winchell published examples of similar restaurant slang in his newspaper column in 1933, which he presented as part of a “glossary of soda-fountain lingo”.[3] The 1947 song “Boogie Woogie Blue Plate”, by Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five, is a treasure trove of hipster lingo, among which is “86 on the cherry pie.””
86 (term) - Wikipedia.

Well, that’s cleared that one up.

It’s possible an old school Vegas poker dealer told me a tall tale.

Seems the etymology is unclear.

This is a joke, but the actual answer is yes.

If my Facebook feed is any indication, people are REALLY starting to flip out about kids going back to school. Even Deplorables are coming to terms with this becoming a disaster.

I think it relates to menu item #86 always being sold out in a restaurant or diner, back in the day.

There is a particular restaurant, and it’s a particular dish.

It’s everyday language in restaurants today, even in industries tangential to restaurants.

In bar culture, a bartender might say “we had to 86 Micro again last night, he was being belligerent and aggressive as usual”

Lol. I have two more origin theories.

Whisky at one time was commonly either 100 proof or 86 proof and 86 proof was for weenies.

And

A grave is 8’ long and 6’ deep.

Only a glaswegian could get 86’d and still go back into the casino to get to his hotel room to sleep the night off only to return to the same spot the next day unaware of anything.

:joy:

Everytime after that we went to our rooms, we got our own escorts, how you like them apples… :flushed:

I still say 0-00 is cheating

Ha, the one and only time I was given narcotics for a migraine I was in the emergency room of the hospital and I accused the nurse of giving me a pee bottle that was filled with someone else’s pee–it was my own from a few minutes before, I guess–and started yelling about systemic health insurance problems.

Apparently I also said a bunch of other stuff that may or may not have contributed to my divorce.

This election is looking more like a Democratic tsunami than simply a Blue wave. President Trump, mired in some of the lowest job approval ratings of his presidency, is trailing Biden by significant margins in key battleground states like Pennsylvania (8 points), Michigan (9 points), and Wisconsin (9 points). He’s even running behind Biden in his firewall states of Florida and North Carolina.

We’ve made changes to our Electoral College ratings to reflect this reality.

Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska’s 2nd district move from Toss Up to Lean Democrat.
Maine, once in Lean Democrat, moves to the safer Likely Democratic category.
Georgia has joined Arizona, North Carolina and Florida in the Toss Up column, although, at this point, Biden would be slightly favored to win at least Arizona and Florida.
Maine’s 2nd district has moved from Likely Republican to a more competitive Lean Republican.
These moves alone push Biden over the 270 electoral vote threshold (to 279).

I know, I know, don’t get cocky.

5 mins before this happened I won the Bad beat jackpot in a limit game with my 4 10’s losing to a st8 flush, and got around $80…

Your true bad beat was going to Circus Circus. I couldn’t figure out why anyone would ever gamble at a place that had clowns on the chips.

The real bad beat was having to book into the Motel a cross the road because of a mix-up (Hmmm, by our booking party) for the weekend.

We spent most of our time in the Mirage and bellagio with spells in the Venetian and MGM Grand… Plus a day trip to downtown with a Taxi driver we paid $100 for a round trip with sightseeing, he was a cool dude.

The Wynn was being built at the time and Stardust hotel was still standing and I got a nice meal from there, chilli in a bread basket.
