Itā€™s funny how we ended up on this and Carter being mentioned. I donā€™t know much about his presidency but he was/is a great human being. Curious what his social media top ten atrocities list would look like.

Didnā€™t stop selling arms to Indonesia when they were genociding people in East Timor.

Carter is almost certainly the best human to hold the office.

Not all humans lead massive empires with aggressive military policies.

Itā€™s not even all leaders.

Generally okay with saying all British prime ministers have been terrible people. But Australia has had a couple of decent ones, as had new Zealand. I donā€™t know enough about Europe, but guessing there are a lot of leaders there who havenā€™t dropped bombs on any innocent kids.

Who would be the best person to interview Trump these days? Someone like Jon Oliver or Sacha Baron Cohen? Or do we want someone ā€œmore serious?ā€ I guess the best ā€œseriousā€ interviewer right now is Chotiner?

Jonathan Leibowitz imo

Iā€™ve always been a sucker for Bill Murray throwing the first pitch into the stands then running the bases personally.

Nobody on earth could get a good interview. It takes two sides.

Honestly, if he would take it seriously, Matt Christman.

My main point is that Britain planted the seeds of modern discord in the Middle East when they reneged on their promises to Arabs after WW1. This was the blueprint for the modern MIC in America.

Hell, you could argue it led to WW2 as the Treaty of Versailles guaranteed it would happen.

Much of Hitlerā€™s evil nature was forged at the Battle of Tanneburg in WW1. Britain gets a decent amount of blame for it starting also just due to their imperialism and thier colonial empire. Germany and Austria-Hungary canā€™t be blamed entirely when they were surrounded on all sides.

I know this is poorly written; Mttā€™ing and trying to post.

This was the best derail ever

I paid attention, thank you very much. I didnā€™t claim you omitted them. I pointed out that subsuming these egregious deeds under the rather euphemistic label ā€œsomething badā€ distorts what those disagreeing with you are arguing.
One can do something bad without being a bad president (or person). One canā€™t fuck multiple goats for years.

Well. If we are really going to be assigning blame. Ottoman policy in the late 1800s was incredibly short sighted as to the Arabs that ran Mecca and resulted in significant economic under development.
