The thing is, people who criticize Obama are talking about popular issues. Medicare for All, legalized weed, ending wars abroad, bailing out people instead of banks. These issues are popular among the D electorate and among the general voting population. Obama went against popular opinion on all of this stuff. These are issues that will resonate with the voting public, but the Democratic establishment refuses to entertain them.
Corporate Dems use fake things like “pragmatism” or “we just have to defeat the Donald” to make sure that popular policies are never implemented, because their corporate donors don’t say so. The Democratic party would be more popular if it listened to the people on the issues where we criticize Obama.
They had to clear the plan with the incoming administration. Was Obama forced to not prosecute anyone involved with the financial crisis? Of course not. He chose not to.
I will admit, much of this is over my head. I’d have to know whether or not we avoided a depression because of such maneuvers.
Something changes when you become president.

I find it a bit trite this forum demands perfection when none of them would ever pass themselves. Extrapolating the current trend, in 100 years, the narrative will be those people at unstuck politics were huge pieces of shit and they’ll take down the unstuck politics statue.
I prefer look at net. Washington/Lincoln clearly win there. I still think Obama will get lowered to probably middling down the road–he just made too many mistakes.
I actually thought Trump would be worse than this–a lot of the stuff set in motion now I thought would happen 2 years ago. Glad he’s lazy, sheesh.

I used to think “tone” and just generally being a decent person was totally irrelevant in evaluating presidents but boy was I wrong. Look what this asshole has normalized and what these assholes feel empowered to do in public.
