So we’re pretending like the Democratic political consultants aren’t grifters? Sure seems to me like they steal the same amount and get shittier results.
I’m in sales, and generally speaking I think a better quality product is easier to sell than a lower quality product (without resorting to price). The GOP consultants have a crazy winning record when you adjust for what they have to sell. The GOP’s real world actions are one of the hardest things to sell I can think of, but they’ve done it masterfully.
Ignore this bullshit. This is from the political consultants whose business they stole. Believe your eyes, they are making a good product. I don’t care how much money they take as long as they get the results I need.
It’s not unique, but I still think that there is value in pointing it out because:
(1) the Trump administration has led to a lot of people becoming engaged in the political process who want to “do something” but don’t necessarily know what to do, so I think they should be provided with max info about how the money they donate is used
(2) the cross party appeal of The Lincoln Project is an interesting dynamic. They are making a financial pitch to lots of blue voters based on the premise that they will take that $ and make ads that will get traditionally Republican voters to switch sides in this election. Whether those ads actually work to change votes (as opposed to just bringing in new donations) is a good topic to discuss.
I think Biden is waffle crushing Trump in the polls. Let’s not try to fix what’s not broken. These guys are producing seriously viral content every day or two right now. And it doesn’t matter if it appeals more to traditional moderate voters or trump voters… it clearly appeals to someone and gets them fired up.
I actually buy that they are doing real work though. Those ads are engaging and hit the conservative brain a specific way. In particular that website where people who voted for Trump in 2016 talk about why they are switching is powerful.
What’s your proof that they are actually working on conservative voters? Genuinely asking because I know that when I watch them I think, “this is the type of ad that I as a left of center establishment type thinks and hopes will appeal to the ‘well meaning Conservatives’ who I desperately want to believe actually exist.” But (a) I’m not actually sure how many of those folks exist and (b) when I’m thinking about where to spend the $ I have to spend most effectively, I’m going to take a little bit of time to wonder if “ability to go viral within my social media bubble” is the best metric, and that applies to lots of things, not just The Lincoln Project.
To us, yea. But not to Facebook Karen that wants to drink wine and wonders what the big deal is. It’s effective to replay Trump saying the virus is going away while 125K are dead.
The important thing to remember with Trump’s polling among Republicans is that the GOP has become the party of Trump. Very few people are willing to self identify as Republicans unless they are also Trump supporters. The number of people identifying as Republicans as been on a steady downward trend.
Yes, they are. A lot are running in DC, apparently mostly to specifically troll Trump, so ya know, whatever. They’re also spending a decent percentage of their grift to make ads for (I believe) Hickenlolper in CO and Bullolck in MT and maybe others.
Trolly is smarter than me and says they’re worthless, and I’m negative enough to believe him, but I don’t think they can possibly hurt, so if they somehow help lead to McConnell no longer being MajLeader, then that’s cool at least (to quote MCA).
