There are umpteen billion things that are insane about Trump and his presidency, but the one I keep coming back to is that he is so stupid and so self-centered that he intentionally has done nothing about the pandemic because he thought downplaying it and artificially deflating the numbers would help his reelection chances when his reelection chances would be infinitely better had he and his administration worked hard to do the right thing.
