I’m not so sure about this. The election is in 5 months. Republican senators, especially from swing states, have ZERO desire to get into a high profile fight about this right now with literally no upside for them. I think the deputy stays in that role until after the election. This isn’t like a judge where they get to put a conservative into a lifetime appointment.
