Well, yeah, but RiskyFlush said “checking out”, not “library buys book”.
The author sells the chicken, not the eggs.
-
Physical library copies cost a lot of money. Demand spurs the library to purchase more copies (or to carry the book in the first place), which funnels more money to the author.
-
E-books are typically contracted to libraries on a multi-use fee. Once the e-book has been checked out a certain number of times, the library must essentially re-purchase the license to rent the book to patrons. A portion of that money contributes to the author’s income.
This is increasingly a LARGE part of an author’s income as the long tail of fractured revenue streams becomes even longer.
How does this play out? Can they just nominate whoever at the RNC convention? Like who conceivably would go on the ballot? Mitch or Ronna (LOL) tells Dongie to gtfo?
There is no way in hell they drop Trump or encourage him to drop out. Virtually every state cancelled their primary and announced their full-throated support of him. Now they’re going to drop the guy who barely had 50% approval on a GOOD day? LOL no, that would require the GOP to be utterly shameless–
Okay, maybe it will happen.
It’s probably too late but there is an inflection point to which Trump is toxic. I think we’ve already passed that and we will see the GOP lose the Senate. Only the hard core Deplorables are holding on to him.
Are there specific Senate seats you see flipping?
Hey gaiz, check out these national poal #s from late October '16. I think Hillary wins going away.
Michigan is in the bag obvs.
I knew #1. Had no idea about #2.
His approval rating has been lower than this before.
I mean, I guess they just by god lose the Senate then? Because what is the alternative in first-past-the-post, us-or-them systems like ours?
Jeb! ain’t walking through that door and even if he did, Trump’s not going quietly. His ego won’t tolerate it. His cult is loyal only to him. Trump Bucks are non-transferable.
It’s 2016 all over again. She’s ugly as sin, but so am I and she’s drunk and she’s horny and I’m otherwise unfuckable. I have to take her home.
Always projection.
In what universe is this the same as 2016? Do you really think June 2016 is the same as June 2020?
What is the scenario in which Trump becomes presidential in the next 5 months? I mean he’s holding an KKK rally in 3 days.
- Cheating
- Refusing the results of the election
(I realize that’s not “presidential”, but the bottom line is the same.)
I know. And he didn’t have a pandemic, housing crisis, protesting, cratered economy, and 40 million unemployed.
But hey I’m sure he’ll be at 50% approval in November. I’m not counting on it.
That was always happening no matter what.
It’s the exact same in terms of loyalty to their nominee. How could it not be? It’s always the same. There can only be one.
Literally the only other option is to concede the election and MAYBE try to salvage the Senate? And I’m not sure how the hell you even do that without the very same Trump voters you’d be alienating in such a scenario.
I’ll grant that it’s a much more difficult climb back to ~50% approval, but this country is stupid and has the memory of a goldfish.
You can’t. IIRC, in many red states, the approval rating for Trump exceeds the approval rating for their senator(s).
