I hear the naysayers because it’s unfortunately not in Trump’s nature to lay down and die (allegedly), but he is BEGGING to be able to do all of that. He’d live out his days in euphoria if he could do nothing but rallies and complain to brainwashed idiots that his election was stolen from him.
He needs to stay president to avoid the possibility of criminal or civil liability.

Even if Biden says he’s pardoning Day 1, he is only avoiding state prosecution and all the civil lawsuits because he’s president. He’s never going peacefully.

About 5 years ago, I was 325 pounds. My sister (a nurse) was shocked I was that heavy. She thought I was 275 pounds. People underestimate how heavy tall fat guys are.

There’s no doubt he would love to do this. I’m wondering though if Trump may be the first case of an ex-President being a national security risk. Seriously. He’s already blabbed out classified information on a whim. What’s going to stop him from doing it after he’s out of office?

That’s another possibility - he moves to Moscow and more or less works for Putin in exchange for fake praise. He’s dumb enough.
Once Trump is out of office, the GOP no longer has to protect him politically.
