That interview with Trump is bonkers. Pompeo gave a note to Kim Jong Un saying Trump was full of shit and Trump is like “Who’s full of shit?”

You need a ton of permits to cross all the way through and basically have to launch an expedition. You can however arrange multi-day tours into parts of the Darien Gap.
There are still some FARC guerrillas supposedly hiding out in there - and a ton of drug trafficking. Just to go down to the end of the Pan-Am Highway there are multiple military checkpoints where they pulled us over and wanted to know where we were going and when we’d be back. Yaviza, the town at the end of the road - has a Mos Eisely feel to it.
Me stuck in a ditch near Yaviza - long story. But that dude staring at my car pulled me right out with his truck - amazingly no damage to the car other than mud.
Turns out he also had a hospedaje (super cheap hotel) that we stayed at on the way back from Yaviza.
The foot bridge at the end of the Pan-Am highway. All traffic is scooter, walking or boat after that.
I feel like you could smuggle anything you want in and out of this port.
