What do you think Nixon’s fate would have been without a pardon?
Well, there’s a grand jury looking into Rudy. Are the line prosecutors going to take a knee and not present evidence and ask for an indictment? When they get an indictment are they going to lose it under a stack of papers and just forget about it?
AFAIK there was an active criminal investigation into Nixon when when he was pardoned. Hell, he should have done time for tax evasion at the least.

No, but it helped a lot with his first congressional campaign. It was the McCarthyism and red baiting that really moved him forward and got him the job as Ike’s Dan Quayle (right wing nut to balance the ticket). (And it wasn’t so much a big win as consistent results while in the navy. Nixon was a stone cold poker player.)

IIRC there was much debate as to whether you could even indict a sitting VP, so he negotiated his hand into a resignation and a sweetheart plea deal.
I’m not… Maybe I just don’t come across as I meant. Russia was definitely involved 100% and had a big hand in it.
But the GOP new that and accepted it imo.
I didn’t mean to come across as saying they didn’t have that big a role.

How much do you think Jon Sale was paid to draft that letter? Like, what he received if he was actually hired just for that purpose? Or what he walked away with after he walked away?
Wow. Does something like this ever happen due in large part to the overall movement against a defendant? Like here, with impeachment getting more and more likely, would a judge look at this and make a call which side of history the judiciary ought to have been on?
To me, that is good evidence that Pence is fucked and knows he’s fucked. Like the others, his only chance is to move all in on denial and obstruction and pray they win.
Oh, there have been plenty of worse pullouts in history before. The one that led to Donny Dum Dum’s birth for example.
