In a court brief this week, Ways and Means Democrats repeated that they had evidence from a whistleblower, which they said suggested the regular IRS audit “may not be functioning effectively, in part because of the absence of safeguards to protect IRS employees and the audit process from improper influence.”
Ever since Congress caught President Richard Nixon underpaying his taxes in the 1970s, the IRS has followed a policy of automatically auditing the president and vice president every year.
It would be great to hire a veteran or two to follow Crenshaw around the capitol asking him questions. Poor bastard would be terrified to leave his office.
Doubt that, if there is any mileage in this impeachment effort, it will be that trump disregarded the law regarding whistle-blowing to cover up his illegal actions. Acting against the whistle-blower would massively bolster that effort.
So all the early reports about the whistleblower complaint referenced a troubling and inappropriate promise
to a foreign leader. I’m not sure this call (at least the parts we know about) counts. Is there a promise anywhere in there?
