The brevity of the transcript is what is giving this legs. It is very easy to hear an explanation of the call and what it means, then check it out for yourself.
The Mueller report is damn near impenetrable for a lot of people. This is different.

I suspect the Mueller Report is going to age VERY poorly. A minimal amount of actual investigation is going to reveal rampant criminality that Mueller had to actively avoid learning about and/or reporting on.

If anything matters this is a big deal and likely the tip of the iceberg.
Only thing I can think of is that Trump believes he can convince his supporters that the last Ukrainian prosecutor accusing Biden was good, and the new Ukrainian prosecutor clearing Biden is bad and corrupt. Just as Trump said in the call, meaning it was perfectly fine. And even if his supporters don’t 100% buy it, they can just say it’s complicated/both sides it to own the libs.
Probably right about that but the “R establishment,” including every member of Congress, knows the truth and exactly how fucked up it is. If they go along w/ it then it’s game over for our democracy.
Seems Barr is struggling a bit before they can get him under the bus.

Yes, and if you’re familiar with NPD, the hypervalidation throughout the transcript cough cough memorandum is stunning but also predictable. He follows the same pattern over and over.

As much as new toads want to please him and stay in stage 1, it never lasts. Eventually, he will feel threatened or displeased, and then they will be treated the same way he has treated everyone before them.

So Barr determined that violating the law in exactly the way the law says “don’t do that” doesn’t count this time because reasons.
If Ukraine has an audio recording of the phone call, could they use that to extort concessions out of Trump? Is there any way Dems could have a wink-wink promise to give them something if it makes it into the public sphere. Sure, that’s kind of the thing that we’re accusing Trump of doing, but screw him. Republicans only understand tit for tat behavior anyways.

Even when he’s not (necessarily) trying, Trump is helping Putin. It damages relations between Ukraine and the entire West. This all plays right into Putin’s hands.

I’m 90% sure this is where Trump and the GOP part ways. They probably told him after the Mueller thing wrapped up to keep his nose clean or else… and he did this instead. At some point they have to cut their losses. They know that they are headed into an electoral disaster in 2020 as it stands. They’re evil not stupid.
