There won’t be any reaction from the other branches or citizens, nor will there be any very significant reaction from the legislative branch.
I agree. Which is why someone will be writing a dissertation 25 years from now about today being the tipping point for the 7 year dictatorship period in American history.
My understanding is that they have three ways to proceed:

Refer it to DOJ for criminal prosecution → Barr says “LOL no”

Hold him in inherent contempt → Direct the House Sergeant at Arms to arrest him until he complies with the subpoena → Right wing outrage, Lewandowski vs United States House goes to the Supreme Court most likely → a 5-4 ruling one way or the other

Give self-indulgent speeches about how this is NOT OKAY to grandstand → Do nothing
So far looks like we’re getting #3. The only correct play, which would be obvious to a five-year old, is #2. Nancy miiiiiiiiiiiight let them try #1.
God I hope it’s only 7 years. I figured it’d be a Canadian/French/German historian, since we won’t have any of those here.
Option 2 is literally the only option.

Dems have exactly one shot at using inherent contempt. After they do it everybody involved with trump will refuse to show up to hearings in the future. In a couple years the USSC might make them go before Congress, but Barr sure as fuck isn’t going to enforce congressional subpoenas.
Pretty sure they can direct the House Sergeant at Arms to go drag them out of wherever they’re hiding and bring them in. Not sure if he has the authority to get a warrant and go into their homes, but I’ll tell you this right now, and I’m going to separate it and bold it to make it clear for the skimmers:
Everybody involved with Trump refusing to show up to hearings and hiding in their homes, secret hotel rooms, etc, is a WAY better narrative than having them show up, make a mockery of the process and laugh in Dems’ faces as they refuse to give a single substantive answer. ESPECIALLY if you’re building a case for impeachment.

I am going to avoid, if possible, talking to my NeverTrump father about the Lewandowski hearings because I know his take will be that the mean Democrats didn’t let the poor man talk and kept yelling at him. At which point I’m going to want to smash something.

Yup. Even Colombia didn’t have this. Our system sucks when the people in charge DGAF about blatant corruption.
Time to stop hoping the corrupt/stupid/both Democrats will have a light bulb moment, literally the only hope is to primary all these assholes.
