Itâs worse than that. He was driven even further right by the âwitch huntâ making the federalist society even happier. He has a lifetime hatred of âradical leftistâ so will be ruling against them every time.
Yeah this is an important part of that whole thing that perhaps doesnât get discussed enough. Some of the âresponsibleâ folks in the GOP claimed it was an issue of not enough time, but there was like a 95% chance of jamming through another conservative judge if they tried⌠Their message was simple.
And at best, even if they were being totally honest (lol) about the risk of trying to get a different judge, then they decided that a small risk of losing the seat until after the midterm when theyâd likely still hold the Senate anyway was not worth it. In other words, the most favorable interpretation for the GOP is that in their calculations, Believing Sexual Assault Victims < .05 SCOTUS seats.
Trump wanted K on the court because heâs on the record as being very against investigations into the executive branch. More so than other federalists. He doesnât give a shit about Roe v. Wade but he cares quite a lot about the SC covering his own ass.
Also he wanted someone who would be grateful/beholden to him once he reached the bench. Mission accomplished I guess.

Trump wonât start another war in the Middle East because he (correctly) thinks that it would be bad for his chances of getting reelected.
Seriously there is somewhere between zero and negative a billion support in the US for another war over there in 2019. A conflict with Iran would lead to a lot more combat casualties than we suffered in Iraq/Afghanistan as well.
Random x legislators suggesting it because itâd be good for the defense contractors who paid for them to get elected donât matter⌠but we should take note of who they are and make sure they donât get elected again.
This whole endless war thing is played out. If this was EU4 our war exhaustion would be north of 10.
Its play, if orange has one, is to make itself look like a great diplomat. Bone spurs will âmiraculouslyâ avoid war only after it makes it appear to be the only option.
