Sorry, I should have been clearer that I think the rest of your post is off topic. There is nothing inherently wrong with making a bunch of money. Of course someone who wins the lottery doesnā€™t become a bastard overnight.

There are two problems with the rich. 1. Making money by stepping on the necks of the poor. I think we are all on board with this being bad. The other reason, which is more interesting, is that 2. Rich people have the power to do a great deal of good in the world at very little (or zero) cost to their own happiness. 400,000 people die each year from malaria alone. 280,000 of those death are children under the age of five. Most of these people die because they canā€™t afford an insecticidal bed net that costs two fucking dollars.

Our best estimate is that it costs about $375 to save a life in the developing world.

My solution is effective altruism. Perhaps one surprising suggestion is that the best way to make the world a better place is to make a bunch of money.

Maybe if we give them a raise by cutting their taxes more they will become more altruistic.

Regarding the argument

ā€œbut wait, that would mean someone earning a 250k is corrupt tooā€

250k USD per year puts you in the 0.04% of income earners globally.

Having 7 million dollars would give you the same 0.04% in wealth.

Like I said before. Itā€™s a spectrum, and a 0.04%er is not quite as bad as a 0.0001%erā€¦ But they are definitely both far over the line.

America does a good job of fooling everyone into thinking that being rich is normal. Itā€™s really not.

if trump reads that story it will probably vault brian hook into frontrunner status to be the next national security advisor.

he might as well say thanks to the daily beast for all the campaign material he never knew he needed.

um fun fact if you google ā€œget used to me slayingā€ the 2p2 AOC thread is the second link haha

So what do you propose?

I have 4 pairs of shoes for example. I own almost nothing. I have a successful law practice and donate time and to many places.

Also read the rest of my posts. I admit freely that the first post was a bit of a drunken mistake full of hyperbole.

You canā€™t honestly believe this would work.

That bed nets save lives? That efficient charities exist? Be more specific.

The best way to stop the rich is to seize the means of production.

And guillotines.

This seems seriousā€¦ Can someone explain this a bit more to a UK noob please :joy::joy::joy:

Most saying it canā€™t be the Tax returnsā€¦

And some be saying it could be the Spy leak.

My bets on something else. And is this why Dan Coates was forced out.

And can Congress invite this whistle-blower into speak, like yesterday :joy:

This seems fair.
