Ok so if my household income is $24.5 million I’m
not corrupt. Got it.
not gonna lie Clovis dunked pretty hard on everyone there
I don’t know if you’re being intentionally obtuse or not, but for anyone to accumulate more money than the GDP of developing countries they have had to climb over the bodies of those they have disposed of to get there. These people are willing to turn on their closest friends and their families and to exploit the most marginalized across the board to achieve their financial goals.
Oh my mistake. So the measure is if your net worth is higher than the GDP of some unnamed county you are automatically corrupt. Which country?
No, there’s just a slightly lower chance that you are than someone with more money. I wasn’t using that figure as a cutoff, I was using it as an example of obvious corruption.
What if I make $20k/ year and then win the lotto for $25 million. Do I become corrupt overnight?
You guys are so wrapped up in your desire to generalize you think I’m arguing that all rich people are great. It’s nuts.
There is no magic number that turns you into a monster, it’s the actions themselves that do that. I’m at work now, but when I get home I’m going to, in painstaking detail, go over the human rights abuses and exploitation carried out by the wealthiest people in the world.
Lol my point exactly.
The glamorization of billionaires seduced millions of people who clamor for authoritarian figures of power in their lives to embrace Trump.
Agree but that’s not relevant to this discussion.
Honestly, I have no idea what point you’re trying to make.
Not all people with obscene wealth exhibit sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies, but the majority of them do.
Clovis, the vast majority of millionaires and billionaires are corrupt. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
As far as I can tell from going back through the thread you’re arguing that we shouldn’t generalize the 1% as corrupt because power corrupting people is “frankly, not supported by the facts” and that we should judge them based on their actions while ignoring the point cassette made that
You rarely just fall backwards into a pile of money that would take an average worker multiple lifetimes to accumulate.
Kreative and monster
Neither of those statements is rooted in any data or facts at all. It is literally nothing more than prejudice.
Cite me data?
Ooooooh, if we’re asking for citations now
Can’t wait for these links about power not corrupting people.
Pamela Anderson looks like she’s still corruptible.
lol there is literally zero chance you think that’s what I’m arguing but nice try.
This is just so obviously true it should be taken as axiomatic. Just like all black people are good at sports and all gingers have no souls. You don’t have to do anything but think about it for it become obvious.
Watch it buster
What about people who start companies and get bought out or go to IPO? They had a good idea and executed on it properly and got lucky to get to buyout or IPO; doesn’t make them corrupt.
There are lots of ways that people get wealth like that. Rental properties or buying land or simply a couple of engineers making 200k/year each for 30 years and saving a lot of that income can get them up there with market increases over the decades.
Saying 99% of 25Millionaires are corrupt and would step over friends and family for a dollar is just such a bad take.
