Le secret des grandes fortunes sans cause apparente est un crime oubliĂ©, parce qu’il a Ă©tĂ© proprement fait.

NPR and the LA Times reported it as 7-2 split, but maybe they’re assuming something that shouldn’t be assumed.

Just because it’s French doesn’t make it any less stupid. If you honestly think every rich person is corrupt you are simply not worth engaging in rational discussion.

It’s already over

Do you have any examples of people with obscene amounts of money who did it by just being hard working and honest?

This is such an insanely stupid conversation. Is everyone who has a million dollars corrupt? Five million? Does auto corruption start at 25 million or not until 26 million?

There’s an unsettling correlation between psychopathy, a personality disorder characterized by a lack of conscience, and those who find personal wealth and success.

7 Traits Shared By Psychopaths and the Wealthy

1. Lack of Empathy

2. Egotism

3. Superficial Charm

4. Lack of Remorse

5. Selfishness

6. Unethical Behavior

upper class participants were more likely than poorer participants to:

  • Break the law while driving
  • Exhibit unethical decision-making
  • Take valued goods from others
  • Lie during a negotiation
  • Cheat to increase their chances of winning
  • Endorse unethical behavior at work

7. Prone to Boredom

Who does it serve for you to #actually and reductio ad absurdum any broad brush attack on the rich? For example, I say, “Let’s guillotine all the billionaires!” and you reply, “Wait wait wait, I’m sure some billionaires are good people!”

Like, wtf would be your goal there? Because in practice, in the real world, you’re just giving cover to the people doing all the thieving and oppressing. We’re in a massively asymmetric battle and you keep falling all over yourself making arguments that only benefit the side that already has all the money and power. Stop doing that.

It starts once you get into numbers that are literally impossible for a working person to achieve. Someone who works for 40 years can manage to build their way up to a $5-10 million net worth but that’s including things like their house appreciating in value, retirement funding, and other general assets that give you a high net worth without having a bunch of liquid capital.

According to the NY Post, last year there were

I’m confident that 172,827 of those households are corrupt.

No I won’t stop. We are suppose to be the side of facts and reason. Facts matter. Period. Better outcomes are derived when facts are the basis. The absolute worst tendencies of the right are ALL based on their penchant for generalizing groups of people yet way too many people here are happy to adopt this basic structural logic failing.
