Maybe, but, from my quick read, itâs not like they are buying fewer bombs. They are deferring maintenance on bases and schools for the kids of servicemembers. Those cuts will a) have little if any impact on our ability to blow stuff up and b) will probably get funded with $ taken from other parts of government as soon as local news outlets start running stories about leaking pipes on military bases.

I said what I said, no bets.
Anyway, Iâm going based off of what Nadler and Schiff have said in a bunch of interviews across the last six weeks while Congress has been in recess. In order for me to be wrong, they would both have to be outright lying about something most news outlets give no shits about. Do you think theyâre doing that? Do you really feel weâve descended that far to where the Dem party leaders are exactly Trump with regard to lying? Iâm not making anything up here. Iâm taking legit leadership people in the party at their word of what they perceive and intend to be their timeline.
Articles of Impeachment could most definitely be filed by the end of November based on what both said, but Iâm giving them until January because I feel like theyâre being ambitious with the timelines of the court decisions and the fallout/appeals that might come from them. Thatâs another reason why a bet would be stupid. Like I donât know how long anything like this takes (no examples to go by), but they both appear to have a vested interest in getting this gone by the end of the year. I could easily see making the bet, and then the event happening a month later or two months later because of things taking longer than expected. This isnât a football game with a designated date of start.
All youâre going on for your assumption is ⌠? I am genuinely curious why youâre so confident on your end.

What they perceive could be different from what Pelosiâs actually doing, and what they intend to be their timeline could be different than you perceive or even than what they perceive. Every step of the way, the actions of Democratic leadership have been to delay everything and to avoid publicly uncovering anything that would force them to impeach. Theyâre throwing the game on impeachment because they think it will help them win in 2020, which I think is a miscalculation. But thatâs whatâs happening.
Youâre hearing what you want to hear from Schiff and Nadler.
I think itâs a legit question. If we think Nadler and Schiff are lying to us like Trump then everythingâs already lost.
They very clearly are giving the appearance of doing something to gullible people to convince them they are actually doing something.
Iâm not sure how else you could interpret it.

They donât have to be lying, just overplaying their hand. No matter how much they want to impeach ultimately the decision comes down to Nancy âNothing is as divisive in our country, in my view, than impeachmentâ Pelosi.
Yeah, see this isnât good reporting on your end, and youâre a journalism major who knows better. You would never report something the way youâve written it here. As an opinion piece whatever, but no way would any newspaper let you write what you did as straight news and you know it.
Hereâs what I heard from Nadler months ago: I dunno, maybe, maybe weâll do something with impeachment, but I doubt it. Fast forward a few weeks and he says heâs absolutely sure the president committed impeachable offenses. Fast forward to within the last 6 weeks, and they filed a lawsuit saying theyâre in an impeachment investigation determining whether to file Articles of Impeachment. Nadler says âweâre already in an impeachment inquiryâ, and Constitutional Law Professor Jamie Raskin from the Judiciary Committee says thereâs no such thing as a âformalâ impeachment inquiry. A committee lawyer also doesnât think the judge will care whether a formal full House vote has been done. And that was when there were only 100 members of the Democratic Party on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry.
Months ago, Schiff said impeachment wasnât worth it because the Senate wouldnât do anything. Weeks ago, heâs âJustice delayed is justice deniedâ, and essentially said fuck the Senate we have to do this and are not going to let them run out the clock like they want. These were people parroting Pelosi originally, but they absolutely are not doing that anymore.
Again, if you want to say theyâre lying, thatâs on you. Weâll never be in agreement on that ever. Itâs so much easier to just say nothing than doing what theyâre doing.
