It wasn’t. Saw several people say it isn’t who know what they’re talking about. One was a VFX guy who says it looks a bit weird because they used a long lens because they don’t want to be near him.

Most likely they had the story pre-written to try to be first to press if Pence did announce a positive. I assume they’ve got similar stuff written for other people and scenarios.
