I think Mitch is going to try to hold possible impeachment over his head like “ok one more crazy thing and we impeach”, then still impeach him after the 20th. Maybe.

If we make it to the Biden Presidency, that means Trump didn’t blow up the world, his sycophants go back to accusing us of Trump Derangement Syndrome and auto-acquit.
Agree and being duly elected officials has nothing to do with it as far as I’m concerned. If a mob is breaking in threatening to kill relatively defenseless people, it’s more than fine for another person to defend them with shooting, even if that ‘another person’ happens to be a cop.

Wouldn’t guys like Cruz and Hawley want to convict, especially after the 20th. It clears the field for their presidential runs. At the very least they could pull the not showing up plan allowing the conviction pass with fewer votes.
I think those guys are banking on Trump dropping dead before 2024.
