The lower-level Trump administration official was not impressed by his colleagues who were fleeing the scene, saying that they were engaged in “pearl-clutching trying to save face for future employment.” A more entrepreneurial man—like, say, him—could turn the Capitol siege into an advantage when it came time for future job interviews.
“If anything, I hope to pitch [Wednesday] one day as ‘look if you want to talk about an employee who can continue to produce and continue to have a good attitude in the toughest, highest stakes and highest pressure situations, [that’s me],’” the official said. He stressed that he doesn’t condone violence.
“Clearly [Trump] is not the same as he was eight months ago,” former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told CNBC after resigning from his special envoy position.
“You go to the White House to work there because you want to serve your country in literally the most amazing building and the most powerful place in the world with the best of intentions and then shit like this happens and you feel embarrassed by it, naturally,” said one of the former White House officials.

Lol, this is such a terrible take. It’s basically one of those memes where it’s “we had a robot read 1000 hours of bad posts” so here is a bad wall of text.
People broke into the US capitol to kidnap and kill members of the US Government and only one of the hundreds got killed. That is the most restraint I have seen out of US police in my entire life.
If the same thing happened with black or brown people, we would be looking at hundreds dead.
Comparing Russia favorably is also insane. Remember Beslan? This happened because the US does not want to get where Putin is where he routinely kills off political opponents!

Neither does Trump exist and stand alone.
It’s not up to the Secret Service to prevent what happened by the way, unless somebody would have been coming for Mike Pence (what was probably happening):

Normally not a fan of the “anonymous quotes about what Trump et al get up to” genre of reporting, but I gave this Reuters effort a look and this part about little Mikey Pence is very funny.
A Pence adviser said “everyone around him is very proud of him” for how he performed his constitutional duty and that he had told Trump ahead of time what he planned to do.
It’s true, he was a very big boy!
