I subscribe to the Matt Christman theory that Obama letting all the bad actors of the financial crisis off the hook, and in fact showering them with free money, while doing absolutely nothing for ordinary people, completely crushed the will of multiple generations to believe politics will ever produce desirable, just outcomes.
This will be a transformative event for all of us that are living through it. This is the first crisis many of us have been in that affects literally everyone, like a war.
There is of course a lot of justifiable anxiety, and the worst is yet to come. But there may be shifts is social attitudes coming out the other side, with lots of potential for silver linings.
I was thinking about this and I am hopefully this event can shape the future behavior of our youngest generations in a positive way.
