I’ll gladly take this as my one time, dealer.
If the skin on your hands is deteriorating that badly you should reconsider your protocol
My wife. Very intelligent but grew up republican leaning. In the last 5-10 years realized how terrible the world is for poor people and has shifted to the dem side
She is voting for biden on Tuesday because she doesn’t think Bernie will win because people are scared of socialism
She also supports health care for all.
But is voting biden because Bernie won’t get health care for all passed in 4 years.
I don’t really have the energy to keep doing this. Even really smart people don’t get it.
I hear ya. I’m confident that healthcare will come eventually because the status quo is untenable. Beyond that there isn’t much in the way of progressive reform that feels possible in the near to medium term.
I don’t know what to tell you. From the way you describe it, your wife’s thought process is completely rational. I don’t think it’s crazy for someone to thing that the probability of Biden winning is greater than Bernie and to place greater value on winning than Bernie’s policies.
I happen to think her assessment is wrong. But proving that is tough and it’s not crazy enough to say that is blatantly wrong. But there is nothing for her “to get”. It is not like she is one of those idiots who says “I’m voting for Biden because I want M4A”, she is saying “I’m voting for Biden, despite the fact that I want M4A”, and her despite really isn’t that unreasonable.
And then? Will Lucy let you kick the football this time, CharLAW BROwn?
I think your wife is right on both counts.
You have to try and convince these people that biden is a lock to lose as well so we might as well roll the dice. We are driving over a cliff, bernie has a parachute that’s never been opened and might be full of holes, biden has a brick.
It’s just disheartening because I’m realizing that we won’t have M4A in my lifetime. Or anything resembling it.
I wish people would stop hedging and let’s get this done
But the reality is. People are comfortable in the middle. We have a good life. We can’t buy just about anything we want. Have savings. Retirement
No alarms and no surprises I guess.
Yeah. Soap and water dries out my skin pretty badly, as does sanitizer. Probably made worse by low humidity. I’m trying castor oil, which doesn’t dissipate as quickly as lotions but still not enough to make up for all the hand washing on daily trips to the hospital.
They’ve now added sanitizer stations at the hospital entrance and ask people to use them before coming in. That’s the only measure they’re taking right now afaict.
Trump’s going to run on protecting Social Security and Medicare and then turn around and sign off on the No Social Security and Medicare In 10 Years Bill and the dissonance won’t even phase him in the least.
I think this is entirely correct and it is impossible to know who has a better chance of winning between Bernie and Joe. Bernie is light years better than Joe, but there are reasonable arguments on both sides for who is more likely to beat Trump. It’s hard to argue that Biden being a moron is going to hurt him that much.
If Trump locks up a prominent D before the election and promises that is just the start, then I will consider voting for him. Otherwise, I will write-in Bernie. And before anyone ats me about “authoritarianism,” we already live under a thoroughly corrupt authoritarian regime. At least this way, half the perpetrators will be punished for what they have done.
I really don’t think there is. All of us can gnash teeth all day but leftists aren’t going to redo 16. Enough will stay home to ensure a trump win.
Preparing for a temporary disruption in TP supply is not a dumb idea imo.
Biden, for not good reasons at all, is perceived as a friend to the working stiff. This will help him in places where Hillary was perceived as despising the working class.
