Is Trump still threatening to deny blue states funding for their coronavirus expenses? I doubt its legal, but couldn’t a blue state governor just respond by saying Republican firefighters, cops and teachers will be the first ones to get laid off. I mean, if you want to play politics, let’s play.

Trump is totally going to figure out a way to weaponize these rapid tests in the campaign, isn’t he? If Biden doesn’t get the same rapid testing capabilities, it makes it harder to hold campaign events and makes him look scared and weak… if he does get the testing, RW media will go off about privileged elites and their special treatment, right?

What do their donors want?
This is not about punishment. The response does not have to be proportional or just in any way. It’s about making an example out of someone loud/bright enough to be seen/heard by the maximum number of other assholes. It’s not about cruelty either.
All of the above is why Mitch McConnell has to have a really bad time. It’s why the careers of everyone who enabled him need to not just end, but end with extreme prejudice. No one can be seen to have been allowed to profit off of this last 20 years or so of GOP maneuvers.
I’ll admit the Democrats have been weak tight for such a long time at this point that it’s a tall order to reestablish a sustainable level of fear of consequences in our political establishment, but if we don’t it’s definitely all over. The money changers have taken total ownership of the temple and some public executions (figurative… maybe) are absolutely necessary to get things back on track.
Good government is impossible while the incentives of public ‘servants’ aren’t at all aligned with the public. More than any other thing this warping of incentives since Nixon has brought us to where we are now… and make no mistake where we are now is our empire circling the drain. And our empire is 90%+ the 50 states. I’m not talking about our global power I’m talking about the best parts of North America, which we currently almost fully occupy.
