Elections are normally controlled by states afaik. State governments can probably do it.
When emergencies are declared times are not normal. Even if blue states go ahead, what happens if red states donāt? SCOTUS is just like āsorry Trump, out of luckā? When Trump admin says Feds have the authority and it goes to court, what does the SCOTUS say?
I think weāre better off with Trump having less power rather than more and there being no laws that just say āany other means the President sees fitā.

If thereās an election and nobody reaches 270 electoral votes then the House decides. And Dems control the House.
I might be wrong here but is that the same way of saying it would have to be 269-269? Because it doesnāt come down to a normal House vote in that instance. Dems would still be fucked.
Two things:
- Itās the incoming House that decides.
- Each state only gets one vote.
Democrats are fucked in that scenario.
If half the states didnāt participate it wouldnāt be an election at all.
But the House thing (and Iām sure Iām ponied) is wrong. Each state delegation in the House gets 1 vote. California gets 1 vote. Wyoming gets 1 vote.
There are 24 states with Democratic governors + DC that add up to 291 electoral votes.
Even if the 26 Republican states canceled elections, the 24 states + DC would be enough for a Dem to get over 270 assuming that they all stayed Democrat.
