Trump’s regime isn’t all COVID-19 related incompetence, they’re still plugging away being dangerously incompetent in other areas as well. Recently with Iran they’ve floated a ‘plan’ to pretend to still be in the nuclear deal in order to get international sanctions back up to the strongest setting. It won’t work, I don’t think, but I like to imagine Pompeo getting headaches staring at all the legalese.
Also the Dept of State has put out a one sided history to back up Trump’s recent tweet threatening to attack Iranian boats for ‘harassment’. Given the crime is being too close (in the opinion of the US) whilst in international waters a few miles from Iran, then they’re building ground work to attack almost when they please.
Personally I don’t think the US wants escalation into an ongoing conflict, even just a ‘bombing’ war, but it’s clear Trump’s brains trust does want to put more pressure on Iran, and you can’t have much confidence in them walking a line that likely doesn’t exist anywhere other then their own moron thoughts.
