The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VII: We Are All Going To Die, Thanks Obama!

I think a 10 yo could do that.

It would be like John Elway trying to pay me $100 to root for the Broncos. Thatā€™s the beginning, middle and end for them with politics.

Why on earth would I root for a politician from the other side to make my life better, when that might help them win, and now I have to watch my enemies rejoice on election night?

It absolutely goes back to the old ā€œDonā€™t outsmart them; outnumber them.ā€.

ā€œWho qualifies?ā€

The editors on Apprentice must have been geniuses to make something coherent and watchable out of that moronā€™s ramblings. I think the general public finds Trump fascinating. Like how can this mongoloid be a billionaire and ā€œreal estate tycoonā€? It was cute when it was just his little show, but horrifying now that heā€™s killing millions. I wonder what % of his ardent supporters actually think heā€™s a genius and what % are in on the joke, but just pretend heā€™s not a moron b/c he justifies their xenophobia and bigotry.

I remember innocently watching the first season of The Apprentice and thinking it was good TV. The Apprentice is going down as the most important TV show of all time.

I remember thinking it seemed like a legit competition in seasons 1 and 2. As it moved along it was obvious it was a complete joke and entertaining just to see what idiotic thing Trump would do or say and the way the producers would have to edit the episode to make Trumpā€™s final firing remotely make sense.

I think the last season I watched was the Annie Duke season, where she clearly crushed by any reasonable standard. The riggage was was so massive it was impossible to hide even with massive editing.

Iā€™m not exactly what you would call a fan of hers. I remember thinking to myself, Trump is such an asshole I almost feel sorry for her (which prior to that I would have thought to be a very difficult thing to accomplish). Little did I know that we had barely scratched the surface of Trumps assholery.

Yah, the winners were clearly rigged towards someone Trump liked and/or someone who was working with NBC.

Annie Duke was drawing dead before she even started.

Penn Jillette was arguably the best contestant ever on the show, but was never gonna win either b/c of his politics.

He is insane, weak and insecure. Why else would a leader spend so much time in a huge crisis lying and crying about how was right months ago?

Edit: I mean, apart from the fact that he wasnā€™t right at all, what purpose does it serve to incessantly whine about it? Itā€™s not getting any problem related to the crisis solved. Itā€™s literally a waste of everybodyā€™s time.

Itā€™s annoying, because as a layman/dumbass I think itā€™s obviously true. But this all happened before, with Barry AuH2O:

The Goldwater rule is Section 7 in the American Psychiatric Associationā€™s (APA) Principles of Medical Ethics,[1] which states that it is unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures whom they have not examined in person, and from whom they have not obtained consent to discuss their mental health in public statements.

There is some other group, the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA), who are like yeah nah, we donā€™t have that rule. That doesnā€™t seem to be these people, though, as the Business Insider article linked in the Salon article has one of them justifying the action by citing a different rule from a different body:

She said ā€œwhenever the Goldwater rule is mentioned, we should also refer to the Declaration of Geneva, established by the World Medical Association 25 years earlier, which mandates physicians to speak up if there are humanitarian reasons to do so. This Declaration was created in response to the experience of Nazism.ā€

^Thatā€™s kind of broad, no? Fairly close to ā€œWhenever the Goldwater rule is mentioned, we should be like ā€˜LOL fuck the Goldwater ruleā€™ā€. Itā€™s hard to see Nazism qua Nazism being brought down or even hampered by some bunch of psychiatrists speaking out. That was an out-and-out fascist takeover permeating most of the society and culture. And I donā€™t think itā€™s even accurate! The WMAā€™s Declaration of Geneva says:

I WILL NOT USE my medical knowledge to violate human rights and civil liberties, even under threat

I believe thatā€™s the complete document and thatā€™s the closest I can find to ā€˜speaking out if there are humanitarian reasonsā€™. It really seems to be more about not co-operating than ā€˜speaking outā€™. So it all seems a bit strained to me.

OTOH, I donā€™t have a whole lot invested in the integrity of the APA and if it hurts Trump, fuck it, go for it, really. I doubt it will, though.

Wat?

I would also like an answer to this.

I donā€™t know the original ad, but that seems disconcertingly effective to me.

I believe thatā€™s an AllState commercial being mangled by Trump. I donā€™t know for sure, but I donā€™t think that would be in the public domain to be used for this kind of purpose. If Iā€™m AllState, Iā€™m contacting its legal department right away.
