One of the reasons the GOP fights so dirty is they know they are outnumbered. They know they can only win with a combination of fear and voter suppression.

Just before I read this post I was getting slightly annoyed about how my in laws are always really unreliable when organising Skype calls, which means our son gets needlessly excited and then upset. I guess some people do have it tougher, though.

The powers themselves are quite normal in democracies, I think. In WW2 the leader of Britainâs avowedly fascist party, Moseley, was uncontroversially interned without trial to prevent him from disseminating his pro-Nazi propaganda, which seems like a sensible use of emergency powers when the whole of Europeâs future was at stake.
Trumps option on these is frightening.
The idea of secret laws and powers is quite terrifying. This should not be possible in a democracy.
Iâm not sure why the laws have to be secret in the US. I think most reasonable people would support interning one hostile person if it meant securing the defeat of a self avowedly ccupying and fascist nation.
