If not a coup, I think we are at least drawing live to the possibility of a member of the military or Secret Service assassinating Trump if he is re-elected. There’s a reason why fragging is a thing. All it takes is one person blaming Trump because they had a family member die from COVID-19.
And to be clear, I’m not advocating that Trump should be assassinated, I’m just pointing out that it is easy to imagine someone else doing it because I can imagine someone else having the desire for revenge or doing some simple utilitarian calculus about lives saved.

Biden (assuming Bernie or someone else doesn’t pull it off) should run on one message: Competence Matters.
Every debate and commercial - just steer it back to railing on Trump’s incompetence, and how he would have never disbanded the pandemic task force, fired the people in Wuhan, sent out mixed messages, etc. How he would mostly get out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.
So of course he won’t do that and instead just blather a bunch of meaningless platitudes about “What the American People want” and “Let’s get back to work” and hurrrr durrr resilience integrity let’s look forward not backward $1000/hr consultant focus group gibberish.

Our democracy under the current constitution is a farce, whether Trump is in office or not. It needs to be destroyed at some point so that something better can be erected in its place, at the risk of getting something worse instead.
They view his awful response to COVID as some kind of incredible leadership so they’ll probably do the same when he totally fucks the economy. They’re already trained to scapegoat the media for whatever happens, so Trump’s set up to just say “Fake news CNN is killing our Great Stock Market, truly an Enemy of the People!” to rile them up and divert attention from whatever moronic thing he does to try to get the economy rolling again.
Remember when Biden’s staff tried to get him in front of the public every day? Besides a few clips he has been MIA forever.

I guess for the sake of speculation, I could conceive of circumstances where this isn’t true. So I guess our disagreement is more in whether we are at such a point.
