In theory, judges have plenary authority over sentencing. The federal guidelines were passed by Congress as mandatory, but that was ruled an unconstitutional imposition on the courts. Courts still follow the guidelines 99% of the time, but the judge could sentence Stone to life. Sentences are generally not appealable, but we live in interesting times.
I think she’ll give Stone 5-6 years, which is under the guidelines but will make the pardon look worse.

Rachel Maddow was saying tonight his tax returns case is pending & that’s when he goes off the rails and causes war, imo wrongly thinking that the SC would rule against him.

IDK. I keep being surprised by some people who bend the knee and some people who cry havoc. Just crossing my fingers we get one of the latter when it makes a difference.
