Inequality. The wealthy got screwed as well. Now they have a much much greater share of the wealth, and therefore power.

Other presidents had competent people. This administration STARTED with the F-team at best and has hemorrhaged so many people that I don’t even know what letter we’re on. Probably so deep into the alphabet, it’s like the 2005 hurricane season where they had to start using Greek letters.

A lot of this stuff has changed from various directions.
With Reagan, we were beyond the time of Kennedy nailing movie stars at leisure, but the press was still (IMO) going to cut the president a bunch of slack as long as he didn’t go completely batshit crazy. From what I can tell it was also a much more incestuous relationship between pols and press - and you’d think pretty carefully about things that might be even slightly borderline because you’re going to be dealing with each other over and over again professionally - getting to be the big cheese reporter in DC for years was the be-all-end-all of your career, and you were going to hang onto that job if you could.
Additionally, Reagan had to SOME degree some good will built up - he was a good politician (I’m not looking at his politics), knew how to handle people and didn’t spend every waking minute treating people like dogshit (although from what I can tell Nancy could be a handle). As he got older, he seemed to be getting a little senile, but he went down the path of forgetful grandpa instead of malignant narcissist moron like Trump, and justifiably gets tortured - I’d guess he’s got to be a complete fucking nightmare in terms of his handlers (and btw the handlers have left until nothing but the dregs are left) Lastly, we’re still struggling as a society with the 24/7/365/every asshole is a reporter because they own a smart phone/pundits on every fucking minute of the day issue - all sorts of stuff that worked just fine from probably the 1950’s until maybe 2000 or so is a complete disaster - and people like Trump/Biden etc. are REALLY unable to cope. I’m not an unreserved fan of AOC on some issues, but I sure as hell get that she gets the media stuff - and I enjoy it - it’s something she is great at.
