I’m probably being naive here but I actually don’t think they will fuck Bernie with Superdelegates if he has a clear lead in delegates going into the convention but less than 50%. Probably for the same reason the Republicans didn’t with Trump. The backlash would be immense, 100x the backlash of 2016.

He is trying to plant the seeds for a split in the Democratic Party. He wants Bernie supporters to resent the party establishment and Biden supporters to resent Bernie.
No matter who wins, some people in the party just can’t bring themselves to vote for them.
Trump can’t expand his base, he has to push any narrative he can to reduce Democratic turnout.

Well trump will roflstomp biden under any circumstances (other than maybe an october market crash) and bernie ain’t gonna win off the back of biden voters it’ll be a wave of new voters or nothing. Cementing bernies outsider status makes it much harder to use the standard attack lines on him.
An October market crash will be easily spun as investors worried about Biden taxing them to death.
