It looks like they just posted a picture from the actual first snow of the year which was a few days ago. It’s not like they claimed it was happening tonight. I don’t think this is anything to get worked up about.

Sometimes they lie just to make the other side lose their mind and to see who will defend the lie. Good information for them to have down the line.
They get to trigger the snowflakes over climate change and gas lighting, see who defends it, then be like, “You liberals got soooooooooooo upset, geez, we just tweeted out a picture from last week! Look how much you hate the best president of all time! TDS!”

People misunderstand the purpose of propaganda like this. I’m stealing a line from Hannah Arendt here, but the whole purpose of these kinds of lies is not to fool people into believing something false but to see who’s obediently reciting the party line and who isn’t. Trump’s been doing this ever since Spicer told transparently false lies about the crowd size at Trump’s inauguration. It doesn’t matter what you believe in your heart of hearts, what matters is that you say you believe Chairman Kim hits 18 hole-in-ones in a row.
Incidentally, this is also why fact-checky stuff is a waste of time. Everyone knows it’s bullshit, what are you accomplishing by fact-checking whether 2+2=5? Just dumb corporate journalists whacking off and fundamentally misunderstanding what’s happening in this country right now.

It’s hard to say whether what we’re seeing here reflects actual disapproval of Trump’s Iran provocation, or whether it’s just the same low-fifties number who consistently disapprove of Trump now (also the percentage of registered voters who say they will “definitely not” vote for Trump in 2020). I would guess that it’s mostly the latter.
In any case, while this is somewhat good news for the election, the really good news is that the idea that Donny can generate any kind of “wag the dog” effect from Iran has been thoroughly refuted. Trump will see these numbers, because he’s obsessed with his own popularity, and it will make him much less likely to take any aggressive action against Iran in the future. Seems like a big win.

Guys seriously this is some unhinged posting. I realize Trump lies a lot and often it’s for all the reasons we’re discussing but this is just a recent picture of the White House from when it actually snowed a few days ago, and it never claims to be anything else. You guys are theorizing that the White House twitter team posted a 3 day old picture showing snow, expecting the internet to go into an outrage because it turned unseasonably warm in that time and everyone forgot how time works. The other explanation is that the White House twitter team decided they needed to post something to keep engagement up, found the snow photo among the White House photographer’s recent photos, and thought “that a nice picture, let’s use that.” Believing the former is some 5d chess shit.

If the Trump White House tweets out some lie, just assume it was done on purpose as a lie or to trigger the left and adjust accordingly the once a year it was an honest coincidence. This may be the once a year, but who cares?
