The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

Like I am mildly drunk here but fuck me, anyone citing anything that happened in fucking climate news in 2019 as a “good thing” is not in contact with reality. I know Greta Thunberg hit you in the feels and all but am I wrong that it’s incredibly depressing that people can’t distinguish between what made them feel good online and actual progress in the real world? The fact that the best thing happening in climate news in 2019 was a 12 year old complaining to the media is BAD! It’s not hopeful news!

It was revealed in May that Trump Org employs undocumented workers at its Virginia winery, but it was only Monday—after the grapes had been harvested, the vines pruned & the wine made—that it kicked them out.

“Happy new year. You’re fired.”

Couldn’t even get the firing date right unless they waited almost a year to let the employees know.

I’m pretty sure this is standard practice for all logistics type jobs. They hire a fuck ton of temp employees in November for the holidays and its well understood that it’s only for 1-2 months unless you kick serious ass and get hired on.This has been the standard practice since I was in my early 20s and lots of my friends worked these jobs.

Not sure how it works in the UK but in the US they even have different badges for the seasonal employee’s. Do temps in the UK get all the same benefits as full time employees?

Not to defend amazon, they obviously suck massive amounts of ass, just don’t think this is a new case of Amazon being extra bad.

I think the meeting and letter is a PR move thats backfiring. Or a way of letting you know if you made the cut to go from temp to full time.

Yeah basically same situation at UPS, FedEx etc. pick something else to hate on Amazon for

Not going to lie I thought the trump statement quoted there was a complete parody and not real. But seems it was real and he wants a vase?

It’s standard practice here in the UK too and we don’t get the same benefits as full time workers, when the jobs are advertised as being temp, but these jobs were not advertised as temp/seasonal but instead advertised as a training period for full time work.

Where amazon used the fact the these workers would be working their ass of in a amazon warehouse for a full time placement if they covered all there targets.

Yeah I know… LOL the trusting British public and lollawbros fine print…

I’ve done my fair share of these types of jobs too, in the post office, the factories and the morning milk runs :joy: and I never once expected to be given a full time job afterwords no matter how well it went.

Im in agreement with you that no matter what they advertise, you gotta read the small print… :+1::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I just wanted a wee moan before my shift… :sob::sob::sob:

Who could have guessed that Trump would be a complete foreign relations disaster before he was elected?

I am sure the government will proceed to crack down on Trump Businesses toot suite.

I also hope anyone who drinks Trump wine gets hep c, allegedly.

I want to have sympathy but did people really not know they were being hired as seasonal workers for amazon to get through their massive holiday business rush?

Ah I didn’t see that it was advertised as a training period for full time work. If thats the case thats shitty.

Tbh I only read the tweets but from what I gathered is that the jobs were pushed out as a contract of a month or 2 and they were given extra work to do and if they completed that work in the 10hr shift all day every day for the month… The agency staff pushed it on the Temp workers that they would get a placement.

Tbh I’d blame the agency staff if I was in there shoes.

It’s a good lesson going forward for the young peeps, to read the actual contract… And as Boris Johnson will be strpping there rights even more this year.

I worked seasonal a long time ago. Similar happened. Everyone not converted to permanent employees were told you can finish the week and be eligible for rehire next Xmas or leave today paid but never work for us again. Not sure anyone chose to finish the week lol

I did but I didn’t lift a finger all week… :joy: Me and me brother refused to leave and told the manager to get stuffed and sack us at your peril because drugs don’t go out your system faster than the police can get here. :joy::joy::joy:

Wiseman dairys
