Gotta love this message coming from the person the State’s Rights slapdicks worship, the federal government will gladly help local jurisdictions promote the general welfare of their citizens.
I hate to say this but Drump sort of has a point. This is the wrong administration to do it, but homelessness is a result of our capitalistic society and likely needs some big lifting by the federal government. Local communities are paying for the failure of our society and they can’t keep up. My community is inundated by homeless, which wouldn’t be an issue, but there’s some percentage of them that are causing a real issue to the livability of my city due to discarded needles and theft.
I’m sure this administration will just throw them all into cages or something. I’m hopeful the next administration addresses the root causes of the problem.

There are 4 vacant housing units in SF for every homeless person. The rich cities like SF could definitely afford to alleviate most of problems, but they don’t want to.
100% Trump, and any conservatives talking about this, are talking about further criminalizing homelessness and pushing people into jail and into camps in remote areas.

Yeah, definitely. I wish Dems were savvy enough to grab ahold of Trump’s offer a propose a super progressive federal assistance program (creatively marketed/framed as a conservative/Christian idea) to put the ball backninthe R’s court.

Mitch McConnel is going to let it die a slow death in the Senate and Trump is going to continue railing against „Do Nothing Democrat’s“. The only small chance Dems have if breaking through that barrier is hammering on stuff that is directly going to affect average Americans (AKA health care). Homelessness is not going to cut it.

Actually they’re gonna kill it quick. They wanted to dismiss it but they don’t have the votes for that so it’ll be a quick trial, they vote no, it’ll look like the farce that it is, suck it libtards, etc.
The poet I was answering to was about a hypothetical Dem strategy of calling Trump‘s unintended bluff of doing something on homelessness by proposing progressive policy concerning that.
That won‘t work. Policy only matters if you can hammer Mitch McConnel for not allowing a vote on it. For that to work voters have to care. The average person does not care about homelessness enough for this to be a successful strategy.
Any discussion of homelessness will be just like immigration: a winner for the Republicans. ~All Republicans, most independents and a fair percentage of Democrats just want them shipped off.
